Melted with U

December 9 - December 21, 2022

For her first New York solo exhibition, Melted with U, Barcelona-based artist Marria Pratts transformed The Boiler with paintings, sculpture, and installation that celebrated the beauty found in overlooked places. She has unique way of working, in which the boundaries between art and life, as well as between individual works, dissolve. She draws her inspiration from walks through the industrial area near her studio, where she seeks out the traces of beauty amid the decay and trash, bringing them to canvas in an intuitive, wild, and contemplative studio process.

Throughout the exhibition, recurring motifs including ghosts, clocks, neon signs, and burn marks created a playful visual language that balanced mystery with spontaneity. Rather than offering fixed narratives, Pratts invited viewers to linger with symbols that shift in meaning, where intuition and curiosity take precedence over explanation.

Working with an instinctive and deeply personal process, Pratts' paintings celebrate transformation—the idea that destruction can become creation, and that overlooked fragments of urban life can be reimagined as sites of resilience, joy, and possibility. Melted with U offered a vibrant reflection on impermanence, inviting audiences to rediscover the magic hidden within the ordinary.
