17 Artists Discover The Bond That Ties Us Together
LaGuardia High School Senior Art Show

Perspective is a collection of mixed media artworks made by LaGuardia High School's senior class of 2024. The series of 39 works offer insight into being a teenage artist, covering personal themes of mental health, family and culture. Each work serves as an autobiographical representation of vulnerability, humanity and the unexpected turns life bring forth. Through experimentation, each artist found their unique way of expression through texture, material, and color.

Curated center-style, viewers are guided by the translucent wall meant to close the gap that typically separates the viewer and the art. The winding path immerses the viewer through a tunnel of diverse mediums such as charcoal on stretched linen, found lantern flies pinned to low fire ceramics, acrylic on traditional folding screen. The series of works invites the viewer to step into the life of a young artist and reflect on both the similarities and differences between each work as they traverse the guided path.

Curatorial Class Mentor: Meaghan Elyse

​

These students participated in a twelve week curatorial practicum at ELM Foundation. During this time, they learned to develop a curatorial rationale, create a budget proposal, execute and install their exhibition design, and manage an ambitious checklist. In addition, the seniors met with exhibiting artists as well as took a very productive field trip to Materials for the Arts where they sourced much of the material used in the exhibition design.
